Bubbletopia

Interactive Installation | Spacial Interaction

The misappropriation and reduction of the habitat of other life forms on our planet is a consequence of human existence and our impact on natural ecosystems. Bubble Topia aims to visualize this problem and thus raise the audience's awareness of our impact on the natural environment.

Bubble Topia consists of a large transparent balloon filled with insects, worms, other small organisms, soil and plants, representing a habitat. The balloon biotope is suspended in a room and each person who enters the room takes up more space, reducing the habitat of the natural life forms, i.e. the balloon life forms, and the balloon slowly but visibly and audibly begins to shrink. However, the spectators can enlarge the habitat again through active participation by inflating the balloon again with the help of hand pumps.
